DR. KARIN WINSTON, MD, FRCPC
Karin Winston is a pediatric endocrinologist who has been working in a community clinic since September 2014. She completed her medical school in Calgary, pediatrics residency in London Ontario, and endocrinology training in Calgary. She sees a broad range of patients with hormone concerns and has a special interest in growth, obesity, and transitioning from pediatric to adult care, especially for type 1 diabetes. She has been the medical director for Camp Jean Nelson, a summer camp for children with type 1 diabetes and sits on the pediatric endocrinology exam committee for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and being in nature. She also has a passion for knitting and collecting fun socks.
DR. SHELBY THOMPSON, MD, FRCPC
Shelby is originally from Calgary and has spent the past decade and a half living in Montreal followed by Toronto. Shelby completed medical school, pediatric residency and pediatric endocrinology fellowship at the University of Toronto. She worked as a staff pediatric endocrinologist at the Hospital for Sick Children, at Scarborough Centenary Hospital, Markham Stouffville Hospital and at a large pediatric clinic in Toronto called Kindercare. Although she enjoyed her time out East, she is thrilled to be returning home to Calgary to continue her career in community pediatric endocrinology surrounded by family, friends and the mountains. Shelby has a particular interest in medical education and enjoys seeing a broad range of hormonal issues. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, exercise and a healthy dose of reality TV.
DR. KATIE DOHERTY, MD, FRCPC
Katie Doherty is a graduate of the University of Alberta medical school and completed her pediatric residency at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. She is board certified through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She has a passion for developmental pediatrics and mental health; she is eager to support children and their families in the Calgary region. Throughout her medical career she has remained connected with her passion for the arts and the outdoors. When not at work she can be found exploring the Rocky Mountains with her husband, children and their two dogs, Pepper and Mabel..
DR. ALFRED YEUNG, MD, FRCPC
Dr. Yeung is a Pediatric Gastroenterologist who completed additional subspecialty training in pediatric neurogastroenterology and motility disorders at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
DR. ELI GILAD, MD, FRCPC
Dr. Gilad has extensive experience in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine working as a Pediatric Intensivist at the Alberta Children’s Hospital for 16 years. He is excited to join our general pediatric team at Sage Fox Medical.
DR. JULIE LAUZON, MD, FRCPC
For nearly two decades, Dr. Julie Lauzon has been a dedicated Clinical Geneticist serving the Calgary community. Originally from Ottawa, where she completed her medical degree, her journey led her west for residency in Medical Genetics at the University of Calgary after which she completed a Master's in Bioethics at the University of Toronto. Over the last 18 years of clinical practice at the Alberta Children's Hospital, Dr. Lauzon has become a trusted expert in pediatric and prenatal genetics, particularly in understanding congenital anomalies and genetic conditions impacting development and intellectual abilities. Driven by a desire to connect with and support her community, she is dedicated to providing supportive and insightful guidance to patients and their families navigating complex genetic information and empowering them in their genetic journey.
AMY MUELLER, Registered Nurse
Amy Mueller is a Registered Nurse and Certified Diabetes Educator. She has experience working with pediatrics, young adults and Adults with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. She is a Certified Pump trainer and enjoys working with all different Continuous Glucose Monitors.
She believes that nothing is more rewarding then working with clients to reach their goals.
ELITIA, Clinic Manager
Elitia was born and raised in South Africa and immigrated with her family to Canada in 2001. She has worked as a receptionist and medical office assistant for the past 24 years and has been part of Dr. Winston’s Pediatric Endocrinology community clinic admin team since 2014. Elitia enjoys spending her free time with her family and grandchildren, gardening, and experimenting with a variety of arts and crafts.

Nikaela has completed her Unit Clerk certification and is working towards her Disability Studies Diploma while working at Sage Fox Medical. She loves meeting and interacting with new people on the job everyday. In her free time you will find her with friends and family, reading a good true crime novel or trying out a new restaurant. She is excited and grateful to be a part of this wonderful team!
